On February 26, 2019, 17-year-old Mackenzie Leeman was driving home from her job as a nursing assistant. The roads had turned dangerously icy due to a snowstorm.
Mackenzie's car skidded off the highway overpass. The accident was fatal.
The high school senior had such a bright future ahead. She was just one month shy of her 18th birthday.
Days after Mackenzie's tragic death, her mom, Alyson, went to visit the site of the crash. As she stood there grieving, a mysterious photo came through on her phone.
Alyson realized the photo was taken inside daughter's former bedroom at their old home in Menasha, Wisconsin. The family had moved from there to their new town, Neenah, just the year before.
The new owner of the house had a neighbor over who knew the door was in Kenzie’s old bedroom.
Before she moved, Kenzie had written 15 words in erasable marker on the mirrored door.
"How in the world can that happen that I’m sitting right there and I get this quote from my daughter?" Alyson told WBAY. "It was like she was speaking to me.”

Alyson returned to her old house to see the door in person and was so overcome with emotion that she laid on the floor and cried.
