One great misconception is that being a Hollywood actor or actress is be a dream job. It's easy to see why people think this, just look at the lifestyle it can afford you: Gala dinners, red carpets, VIP treatment anywhere you go, all followed by getting into a fancy chauffeur-driven car which takes you to your mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Life couldn't be better.
Except this vision neglects to mention the work aspect of the Hollywood lifestyle. Working in the movie business isn't all glitz and glamor, in fact it can be quite mentally taxing!
Think about it: A film will be shot on a location for months on end and the actor's job is to truly get into the mind-set of a character. Actors are essentially becoming another person for the better part of a year with barely a break in sight and if the director the actor is working with is a perfectionist, it can be particularly challenging (think things like staying in sub-zero water for hours on end to get a scene exactly right).
This type of workplace environment doesn't just test one's ability as an actor, but can also push people to their limits as human beings.
Let's have a look at nine very famous movie scenes that pushed actors to their breaking point, from classics like The Shining to new favorites like the latest installment of Star Wars, and you'll come away with a new appreciation for your favorites.
