Back in March 2014, Marcella and Ralph Bracamonte went on Craigslist in the hope of finding the right nanny to help them with their children.
The Bracamontes ended up hiring a 60-something woman named Diane. The deal was that she would live in their California home, at no cost to her, in exchange for taking care of their three young kids and keeping their home clean and tidy.
At first, everything was going smoothly, and the family was happy with Diane. But a couple of months after she moved in, her work ethic took a sharp and sudden decline.
It got to the point where Diane refused to complete her work duties or look after the kids.

"She would stay in her room 90 percent of the day," Marcella told CBS. "I really did try to work with her. She would just sit in her room all day. So I told her, you either have to perform or you gotta leave."
Fed up with her antics, Marcella and Ralph handed Diane a three-day notice of termination. That's when things took a truly bizarre turn.
Diane refused to leave their home. The couple tried all sorts of tactics to get her to go, but nothing worked.
This meant Ralph would have to leave for work, knowing his wife and children were home alone with the nanny they had already fired.
