Innocent Man Reunites With Family After Spending 17 Years In Prison

In 1997, Nathan Brown was charged with rape and given a 25-year sentence. The devastating truth: He wasn't guilty, and he'd spent years trying to proclaim his innocence.

Seventeen years later, at the age of 40, Brown was exonerated in 2014 with the help of the Innocence Project. The nonprofit legal clinic, which helps wrongly convicted people, reopened the case. DNA evidence proved that it was another man who raped the 40-year-old woman in his apartment building in Louisiana. At the time, that man was already in custody for an unrelated crime.

At the :40 mark, we see the moment Brown is finally reunited with his family and friends. It's also the emotional moment he gets to meet his baby grandson for the first time. His happiness is written all over his face, much like the dying grandma who as able to hold her first grandchild.

"I'm just glad to be here today with my friends and my family," Brown told reporters. "I'm just glad to be free. I just thank God for it."

Brown, who said he never lost his faith in prison, also revealed his surprising feelings towards the victim. Instead of being spiteful, Brown showed compassion.

"I wish her well," he said.
