Hero Homeless Man Picks Up Backpack In The Trash, Then Calls Police With Bomb’s Location

New details are emerging about the terrifying situation in New York and New Jersey regarding bombs that were planted in both states by Ahmad Khan Rahami, who is now in custody. 

While the explosion in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood rocked the city, New Yorkers have resumed life as normal. Meanwhile, authorities have discovered homemade explosive devices scattered throughout several locations, including one near a train station in Elizabeth, NJ.

The incredible story of how it was discovered is coming to the light, as one of the people who found it has come forward. He took to heart his duty as a citizen, and called police as soon as he noticed the suspicious qualities of the item he had in his hand.

The bomb, which was placed in a trash can, was found by Lee Parker. As it turns out, Parker is homeless.

In the clip below, he recounts the tale of how he came across the device, and how he realized that the item may be a threat to public safety.

He had reached into the garbage to pick up a backpack in decent condition, thinking that it could be of use. He tried to empty to contents of the bag, but that's when he saw all the wires that were hanging out.

Carefully, he slipped the wires back in and called the authorities. Parker says that his intuition said that it was the right thing to do.
