She Rubs Blue And Green Dye Into Her Hair To Create An Almost Holographic Look

Each and every day, I see more people with beautiful hair painted with unnatural colors. It’s such a fun way to add a little color and fun to your life, and to the world!

Plus, as I always like to say, it’s just hair. It will grow out soon enough, and you can always change it whenever you’d like to. So, why not have a little fun every now and then?

Much like we used to highlight our hair with blondes and coppery reds, we’re now using different shades of blues, greens, purples, yellows… every single shade and color imaginable, to create dimension and intrigue.

The oil slick look might sound a bit strange at first, but when you think about how oil creates the most incredible rainbows on puddles in parking lots, don’t you want to know more?

You can get this look done professionally, but you can also take the time to do it yourself at home…

You achieve the look by painting on colors with an ombre effect, and blending them in with each other. This way, it almost looks as if the colors are natural, as there is still a hint of natural color toward the roots.

This look is a bit brighter, and uses a more diverse palate of colors. This is what’s so great about this look: you can customize it to be exactly suited to what you love!

Here you can see how subtle the oil slick look can be, and that it can work with any natural hair color. This woman’s rich chestnut color looks amazing blended in with the blues and purples. See the final product on the upper left.

This woman chose to bring the color up all the way to her roots, which looks amazing as well!

This is a slightly different take on the oil slick look. If you’re more of a pastel gal or guy, you can go with opal hair instead of the darker colors in the oil slick. It’s a softer look, but still just as mesmerizing as the darker colors.

Here, the finished product really relies on this woman’s natural hair color. You can see how the hairdresser complemented her lovely brown with some warmer colors, like a bit of reds and pinks.

Would you ever try this on your own hair? I’d love to give this a go! Luckily, it’s not as complicated as it looks, as you can find in the tutorial video below.
