Are you someone who gets anxious prior to traveling simply because you spend the whole time fighting back the urge to pee? There might be a good reason behind this, and it could include something called overactive bladder syndrome.
Inside Edition shares a video in hopes of raising awareness about overactive bladder syndrome in sponsorship with Urovant Sciences spokesperson and urologist Dr. Ashley Tapscott.
In the first moments of the video, we’re met with a woman named Diane who speaks about consistently suffering from an intense urge of having to use the bathroom only to have nothing come out once she reaches the toilet. Shortly after, she often experiences moments of leakage without even realizing they had occurred.
Tapscott specializes in OAB and notes how the syndrome's symptoms impact 33 million Americans, both men and women. She knows how OAB can affect the daily life of so many people, especially when they’re traveling during the holiday season.

OAB sufferers can experience a sudden urge to urinate that’s difficult to control, as well as frequent urination and leakage. However, there are a few things you can do to help your OAB symptoms.
You may want to look into possible dietary changes and what’s called bladder training. Many doctors recommend pelvic floor exercises, or Kegels, which may help postpone the emptying of the bladder.
Patients with OAB might also want to think about using washable or disposable underwear when they’re taking longer trips where they might not be close to a bathroom for extended periods of time.
