Hundreds of passengers on a plane in China had to rebook their flights after a passenger argued with cabin crew and other passengers for hours. The passenger, who has not been identified, had purchased two first-class tickets.
He wanted his child to be able to sit with him during the flight, but he had only purchased an economy ticket for his child. A man whose last name is Zhao recorded a video of the incident and provided some information about how events unfolded on the flight, The South China Morning Post reported.
Zhao said that the man's young son started crying. He had been sitting in economy because his family purchased an economy ticket for him, but his dad asked the cabin crew members if the child could be upgraded to first class instead.
Flight attendants explained that he could not upgrade to first class for free, which made the man upset. He insisted that he should be able to upgrade for free since he had already purchased two first-class tickets.

He became really angry and started arguing with anyone who spoke to him about it. Video footage of the incident shows that passengers, cabin crew members, and security guards tried to speak to the man, but nothing helped.
“Stop swearing at me. You have no right to do that,” he reportedly said. The South China Morning Post reported that a passenger tried to explain the airline's policy, which, again, made the man angry.
A security guard tried to step in but to no avail. “What gives you the right to order me about?” the man reportedly shouted. Another passenger complained about the man while on the plane, saying that he has wasted their time.
Several hours after the conflict started, police arrived to escort the passenger off the plane. The whole incident was still a big waste of time for the passengers, who, in the end, had to rebook their flights.
Some people who responded to the video thought that the airline should be held accountable for how the situation was handled.
"Why should more than 200 people be responsible for one person's violations? !" one person commented on footage shared on Douyin (China's version of TikTok). "The airlines cannot escape responsibility for this!"
Others wondered how it got to the point where other passengers had to get involved in the conflict.
One person wrote on Douyin: "I'm very surprised. Shouldn't the airline be held accountable? Why did the target of the attack come between the passengers?"
Some were critical of the passenger, calling him "selfish" and saying that he could've just sat in economy to avoid leaving the child by himself. Others were skeptical of the cabin crew, especially considering how the conflict lasted for hours.
"The problem-solving skills of the crew are poor," one person commented.
