Air travel has been getting a lot of attention lately, and not for good reasons. In January 2024, a door panel fell off a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft during an Alaska Airlines flight. Although no one was seriously injured, Boeing has faced a lot of scrutiny. The incident also led to people being more on edge while flying. On Sunday, April 7, one woman took to Instagram to share her concerns about the aircraft she had already boarded.
In posts shared to her Instagram Story and later shared by TMZ, the passenger, Kristin, shared footage that seemed pretty alarming.
The footage appeared to show a pilot fixing a window on her United Airlines flight from Denver to Dallas. The woman did not find this comforting.
"They are literally replacing a window with all of us just chilling and sitting here waiting to take off?!?!?!" she wrote.

She attempted to get more information from her Instagram followers, in case anyone had ever seen anything like what she was witnessing. "I have so many questions," she wrote.
"Is this our pilot?!?" she continued. "Should a pilot be replacing a f—ng window?!?! Is this normal?!?"
Kristin later posted an update letting people know that she landed safely and luckily, the window did not come off the plane.
She also had some other good news to share with her followers: one of her young kids slept for the entire flight.
"It's eclipse season y'all," she wrote. "Miracles can happen."
A rep for United Airlines later explained to the New York Post that although it might've looked like the window was being fixed, the work being done was "cosmetic" and didn't create any risks for passengers.
“The video shows a ring of plastic called a bezel, which is cosmetic and not required for the safe operation of the aircraft," the rep said in an email to the outlet.
Though Thrillist.com reported that window seats are still the most popular seats on planes according to the 2024 State of Travel report from Going, many social media users have posted about being afraid of window seats on Boeing planes, writing comments like "pray for me" and "so far so good" while seated in a window seat.
