Losing a pet can sometimes be a very painful experience, and we often don't allow ourselves the time to grieve properly, because many of us think, "well, it's just an animal. I should be over this already." The truth is that it's not always easy to get over the death of a pet, and many pet owners are at a loss over what to do when they realize their pet is getting older. That's why one woman in Omaha, Nebraska is working to make the process of saying goodbye to our pets a little easier.
Cherie Fry, owner of Paws to Angels, wants to help ease the difficulty of that time by providing people with a pet hospice; basically, she helps people through the death process, and even helps them create funerals for their pets.
Fry, routinely goes to people's homes to help give them tips and make the place more comfortable for aging pets, says that her involvement with different owners varies.
“We might see them one time, we might see them through the journey for a whole year, maybe two," she says.
I think this is a wonderful idea, and a service that a lot of dedicated pet owners would definitely enjoy having. Learning how to say goodbye to our pets with dignity and peace would surely make the process of losing them to old age an easier one.
