Sometimes, skin just acts up in ways you wish it wouldn't. Many skin problems are gross, or embarrassing and getting rid of them isn't always as easy as just applying some pimple cream.
One unsightly and uncomfortable ailment you may be familiar with? Plantar warts. According to the Mayo Clinic, plantar warts tend to form on your heels or other weight-bearing areas on your feet.
These unsightly growths are caused by the HPV virus entering your body through tiny cuts. While that may sound scary, they are not usually dangerous, but rather just something you want to get rid of.
Luckily, treating your plantar wart at home is just as simple as soothing your sunburn at home, and is probably less painful.
So, the next time a plantar wart begins to develop, don't run to the store. Instead, try these easy plantar wart remedies that don't require you to go farther than your medicine cabinet or pantry.
Plantar Wart Remedy #1: Duct Tape
We all know that duct tape has endless uses for crafting or around the house, but did you ever think about it as a topical treatment?
The American Academy of Dermatology corroborates that using duct tape to remove warts is effective.
Cut a piece of duct tape as close to the size of your wart as possible but also big enough to be able to grip to rip off.
Leave the tape on for a few days and pull it off. Repeat until the layers of the wart have been peeled away.
Plantar Wart Remedy #2: Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar seems to have a million uses for your body and health!
You can use to combat plantar warts by soaking a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, and applying it to the wart using a bandage, or even duct tape if you're brave.
Leave for a few days and let the acidity work its magic on your pesky wart.
Plantar Wart Remedy #3: Onions
Speaking of acidity, onions are another natural source you might have in your pantry.
To utilize this method, you can either crush up the onion until it releases juice and apply that to the wart, or you can place sliced onion right into your sock and onto the wart!
Plantar Wart Remedy #4: Acne Cream
Turns out that the properties in acne cream have more than one purpose.
Creams with salicylic acid, which is found in many over the counter planter wart treatments, can help dry out your wart and lead it to fall off.
Apply the cream to the problem area and let the acid go to work.
Plantar Wart Remedy #5: Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is known for its many healing properties.
For this method, dilute the oil in water, then generously apply solution to a q-tip and transfer over to the wart. Reapply frequently until the wart goes down.
Plantar Wart Remedy #6: Iodine
Iodine is used to help disinfect infections and treatments. This is exactly why it's a good remedy for your plantar wart; the chemical can help kill off the virus causing the growth.
Use a cotton ball to paint the area with the wart and help kill the nasty virus.
Plantar Wart Remedy #7: Chalk
The Scientific American reports that one doctor found rubbing chalk on the warts of his patients helped the warts to disappear.
To try this method, just find some clean chalk and rub it onto the wart like you would onto a chalk board.
If that doesn't seem to work, crush it up and add a little water, and apply it as a paste.
Plantar Wart Remedy #8: Urine
While peeing on a jelly fish sting has been disproven, it turns out that it actually does work on warts.
The method for application is much the same as it is for applying apple cider vinegar, but is less painful due to the lower acidity.
However, there's still enough acid to work away on the wart and help it disappear.
