Rainbow Babies Provide Hope And Happiness For Grieving Parents

A beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.

Chasity, a mom from Texas, recently found a set of stunning photos online. So touched by the photos, she shared them on her Facebook page. The top photo shows seven pregnant women, each expectant mother dressed in a different color of the rainbow. The bottom photo shows the women wearing white, holding their babies who are wearing the same colors their moms wore in the top photo. It's the meaning behind the photo series, taken by a pair of Russian photographers, that's now going viral.

The photos call attention to "rainbow babies," or the term used to describe children born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. Though the term "rainbow baby" is relatively new, it's quickly catching on. More and more women are taking to social media to post stories about their own rainbow babies, thus helping other families find hope and faith in the future after suffering such a devastating loss. One mother named Rachel Elizabeth Barnhart wrote on Facebook, "I haven't heard this term before but I can't think of a better way to describe our daughter. Never give up, parenting after a loss is one of the most exciting, worthwhile, happy, meaningful, things we decided to do with our lives."
