Children have played with Barbies since 1959, but critics have claimed that the Barbie doll gives children unrealistic ideas of a woman's ideal body shape.
Nickolay Lamm, an artist, recently created a new doll named Lammily that provides children with a fashion doll that has realistic body proportions. Over 19,000 people have already put in orders for this new doll which will be shipped later this month and Lamm recently launched a whole new line of sticker accessories for the doll that will give Lammily realistic body markings such as moles, stretch marks, cellulite, acne and more.
Lamm hopes that these marks can make the dolls more relatable. He tells Buzzfeed News, “The ‘imperfect’ nature of it isn’t an issue. I feel it makes the doll more relatable… I want to show average is beautiful."
