Artist Makes A Record Out Of A Tree Which Plays Beautiful Music

This incredible video will leave you utterly speechless at the total and complete power of nature. The chilling nature of this video plays the ancient music of our Mother Earth, using modern day computers and technology to wonderfully capture the old songs of our planet's ancient guardians: the trees.

German artist Bartholomäus Traubeck is clearly on a different plane of existence for coming up with such an elegant idea for his most famous installation piece. For this project, titled "Years," he used computers to record the data of a thin "record" sliced out of a fallen tree.

The computer analyzes the bumps, marks, imperfections, and rings of these pieces of "vinyl" and using all of that as a basis, he managed to have those all marked out to specific keys on the piano. Depending on the depth and color of the marks, the piano played different keys at different volumes.

You can best see this in action at the :31 mark when the "needle" of the record player causes a cacophony of sound each time it rolls over the large black mark in the wood. The end result is an eerily beautiful song composed by nature itself.

Traubeck used several different types of wood, and each managed to play a different song. Translating these pieces of organic material into the beautiful sounds of the piano has a very otherworldly feel, and if you love trees then watching this amazing video is well worth your time.

Please SHARE this beautiful music if you love Earth!
