Red cabbage slaw is not your standard coleslaw. Made with eye-catching ingredients like buttermilk and brown sugar, this recipe definitely puts a twist on this cookout classic.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 red cabbage, shredded
  • 2 large carrots, shredded
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. celery salt
  • Ground pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Mix cabbage and carrots in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, buttermilk, and lemon juice.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, dry mustard, and celery salt. Mix until smooth, then season with pepper.
  4. Pour dressing over cabbage and carrots, then toss until thoroughly coated.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
