Social media is useful for many different things. You can keep in constant contact with friends and loved ones and share a variety of things with them online.
Of course, not every part of dealing with social media is positive. Sometimes, you have to deal with less-than-friendly individuals. Even a police department's Facebook isn't completely shielded from the negativity that can occur in the online space.
Recently, the Redford Township Police Department in Michigan decided to share a post about a home invasion with their followers, only to find a comment by someone who clearly was not a fan of them.
Known as "Champagne Torino," the man commented "You guys suck!" on the police department's post.
Apparently, the man is also wanted on "existing warrants," so one can only imagine the bad blood there.
The Redford Police Department replied to Mr. Torino with, "Michael, given your veiled threats to residents and officers on other threads and your inability to engage in constructive dialogue on this page, this is your one warning. If it continues, you will be blocked."
Well, it did continue. In fact, the police department's reply only served to enliven Mr. Torino, who decided to issue a challenge to them.
Unfortunately for him, the challenge didn't go as planned!

Meet a few members of the Redford Township Police Department, located in Wayne County, Michigan.

The members of the department are avid users of social media, and their Facebook page is always active in the attempt to connect more with the people they serve.

And though most of their followers are supporters of the department, the same cannot be said for all of them.
Recently, the department had to deal with one of these individuals, and the results were remarkable to say the least!

A wanted man known as "Champagne Torino" commented "You guys suck!" on a post the police department shared about a home invasion.
The department fired back, warning that they would block him.
Mr. Torino was undeterred.

In fact, the police department's comment only served to enliven him to the point that he issued a challenge:
"Yeah, I'm not worried about it. If you're next post gets a thousand shares I'll turn myself in along with a dozen doughnuts. And that's a promise."
And then things took an unexpected turn!

The Redford police accepted his challenge and reached out to their followers for assistance: "If we can have this post SHARED 1,000 times, he will turn himself in to RTPD on his existing warrants, clean up blight on public school property, and bring us a dozen donuts. Donuts!!!!"

Unfortunately for Mr. Torino, not only did the police department receive the thousand shares they needed, they nearly got another 3,000 for good measure!

And in true, victorious fashion the police department posted this picture after the shares had been accumulated!

And while it remains to be seen if Mr. Torino will actually live up to his promise, many followers were most interested in whether the aforementioned donuts would be delivered!

In a parting note, the Redford Police Department thanked their followers and their community for their help and support!
