In many tough neighborhoods, police officers recount stories of the times when they were not welcome. But they also say that their main job is not using violence to keep the peace, but to build relationships with the neighborhood's residents, even the small ones. We saw a cop stop to play football with a few kids in a underprivileged Atlantic City neighborhood, and a cop dance-off with a teenager to stop a fight, and these brave cops are proud of the good they can do!
A Richmond, Virginia, cop was present at a nonprofit-organized community birthday party when the unexpected happened. The group Celebrate RVA organized the event in celebration of the birthday of several of the neighborhood's kids. When it was time to belt out the birthday song, the hit song from the movie Frozen, "Let It Go," was played.
The children didn't start singing along until Officer Jonathan Natoli belted out the tune, encouraging all the children to do the same. Everyone who attended the party — the community children, parents, and friends — were shocked by the officer's gesture. One mom said that she was almost in tears, describing Officer Natoli's actions as "awesome."
Now, the footage of the sing-along is going viral! The officer himself is getting a little more attention: he says that his church is now asking him to join the choir!
If you love what this cop did for these kids, please SHARE!
