When I was kid, I was always curious about what I could find in thrift shops like The Salvation Army. I took up a habit of regularly paying my local thrift shop a visit, hoping to find a small gem here or there. You wont believe what kinds of possessions people want to give away!
And then you have those rare stories in which people browsing for that hidden treasure make a cheap purchase and find something incredibly valuable instead.
Check out the story of when a couple unknowingly purchased a Purple Heart for little to nothing!
Often times, it's true that these valuable objects are not ours to keep. One woman shopping in a Salvation Army in Waipahu, Hawaii, bought more than she bargained for, but was happy to return it.
The trunk Kate Esser purchased was where $1,000 of the store's money was accidentally left. The bewildered woman found the money and tried calling the store, only to find out that it was closed.
Meanwhile, employees and the manager of the store had realized that the money was missing and scrambled to find it. They closed the store, hoping for the best.
The next morning, Esser called The Salvation Army with the news of her unintentional purchase. Thankfully, the store didn't have to wait too long for that call. The Good Samaritan was happy to give the money back, simply because it wasn't hers to keep!
Please SHARE to commend Esser on doing the right thing and returning the money!
