All too frequently we think of cats as the more blasé of our furry companions, generally displaying little interest in anything other than laser pointers and three-hour naps. But cats have an incredible propensity for loyalty. They can do incredible things for their human owners, and for each other as well.
Craig Jeeves was saved by his cat after his house caught fire in Melbourne, Australia. After the house began to burn, his cat woke him up and ultimately saved his life. Another cat of Damon Osbourne, Oz, saved his life when he fell into a diabetic coma. Oz quickly woke Osbourne’s girlfriend who was able to call paramedics in time to revive him. And there are countless stories of cats adopting abandoned animals and raising them as their own.
The video below doesn’t have a happy ending. What it shows instead is the incredible love that one animal can show another, how two creatures can bond in a way that’s unbreakable, and the lengths that they’ll go to in order to protect one another.
When his friend passed away, this stray tried desperately for hours to resuscitate her by climbing on top of her and giving her a "heart massage" to no avail. When that failed, he laid next to her, keeping her company and refusing to let anyone near her. By the end, I was in tears.
