Hero Cop Buys Homeless Man Chipotle, Now His Gesture Is Going Viral

A Chicago woman named Rachel was eating lunch at Chipotle when she snapped a couple photos of a cop doing something extraordinary. Sergeant B. Hagarty was on his lunch break when he noticed a homeless man digging through the dumpster outside the restaurant. From inside Chipotle, the Sergeant knocked on the window. Then, through the glass, he asked the man if he was hungry. When the man said yes, Sergeant Hagarty motioned for him to come inside.

The Sergeant proceeded to buy the man whatever he wanted to eat. He had no idea Rachel caught the whole thing on camera, or that she shared the story on Facebook. Once the Chicago Police Department caught wind of the hero's gesture, it went viral with thousands of likes and shares.

After buying the man his hot meal, Sergeant Hagarty shook the man's hand, and left the restaurant. The 35-year veteran of the force plans to retire at the end of the year. "Sergeant Hagarty, we thank you for leading the Chicago Police Department by example," the department wrote on their Facebook page.
