Ex NFL Star Brings Joy To Underprivileged Kids By Taking Them On A Shopping Spree For Christmas

It may sound like some kind of drill for football practice, but Houston Texan Andre Johnson was serious about hanging up his helmet for good when he retired this October.

Andre is also serious about giving back to the community and making Christmas special for kids who might otherwise go without gifts.

Now, thanks to his generosity, 12 kids in the Houston area who are in the custody of Child Protective Services have been able to go on a shopping spree where they can quite literally pick out anything they want — as long as they do it by the time the clock runs out.

Even more impressively, Johnson has been hosting this event for nine years and has therefore been able to make Christmas special for over 100 kids in the last decade.

Obviously, the kids are having the times of their lives. But there is a reason why Johnson keeps doing this every year: he too loves the excitement, and most importantly, the satisfying feeling of giving.

At the end of the spree, it takes minutes (and probably plenty of rolls of paper) to print out the receipts.

This year the kids made out especially well, as Johnson dropped just under $20,000 in one sitting.

If this gesture doesn't say the spirit of Christmas, I don't know what does. This is the kind of selflessness that inspires everyone who learns about it.
