Teen Runner Suffers Serious Asthma Attack, Later Returns To Hospital To Thank His Doctor

Dedicated athletes are constantly struggling to not only push their bodies to the limit but keep a strong mental motivation propelling them to move forward. For 13-year-old Marquis Toliver, asthma nearly ended his running career just when it was getting started.

The driven teen has dreams of making it to the Olympics some day, and his talent for speeding down the track led his family and friends to believe that would come true. Unfortunately, his body decided to make things more complicated and his grandfather suddenly noticed the youngster slowing down.

After being diagnosed with RSV at birth, a respiratory infection common in premature babies, Marquis spent seven days in the hospital and has battled breathing issues for most of his life.

He hasn't let that stop him from reaching for his goals, however, until this recent debilitating incident. Luckily, Dr. Luke Noronha at the Omaha, NE, Children's Hospital was able to prescribe him with a medicine that helped Marquis return to racing after just 30 days.

His comeback was a huge success and he decided to celebrate his medals by bringing them back to the hospital to thank Dr. Noronha, who was just happy to see the young man smiling and healthy.

Don't be surprised if you see Marquis standing on a podium to accept more medals over the years. This kiddo is clearly determined to go all the way.
