There's nothing like enjoying a good laugh. You could be having the worst day of your life, but when something really tickles your funny bone, you just can't help yourself from letting out a chuckle or two. It can help turn your whole gloomy mood around as well as keep the good times rolling. The joke doesn't even have to really make sense, just so long as it puts a smile on your face.
One person we can always count on to provide plenty of knee-slapping hilarity? Steve Martin.
The seasoned funny man has been cracking us up for many, many years now, starting with his acclaimed comedy albums and guest appearances on Saturday Night Live in the 1970s. By the end of the decade, he was ready to make his first starring role debut in the hysterical film, The Jerk. Playing a hilariously dimwitted character from humble upbringing, Navin, he manages to find himself traveling across the country, falling in love, and even making a fortune.
The film centers around Navin trying to locate his "special purpose." In this scene, he's left his family and has found employment at a small gas station. However, unbeknownst to him, a madman has also randomly selected Navin to be his next victim and has discovered him at the new location. Poor Navin just doesn't understand what's going on when the nearby cans of oil start to "spring a leak," and can't figure out why the man "hates these cans" so much. I've seen this a million times now, but it never fails to crack me up again!
