Steven Tyler Stuns The Church With His Rendition Of ‘Amazing Grace’

We've heard "Amazing Grace" many, many times before… but never quite like this.

One Sunday afternoon back in the early 00s, Steven attended services at the Renaissance Unity Church (also known as The Church of Today) in Warren, MI. Marianne Williamson asked the rockstar frontman if he would come up and sing, to which he happily obliged. He talked a little bit about how Marianne helped him with his sobriety throughout his struggle with addiction before joining Juliette Hamilton for a spine-tingling rendition of "Amazing Grace." Since being uploaded to YouTube in 2006, the performance below has racked up over three million views.

Though he's known for his massive stage presence, screaming vocals, and outlandish persona, Steven is the perfect singing partner for Juliette. Her voice is so powerful and he really lets her shine. It's clear he only wants to sing for God, and is welcomed by the congregation with open arms. Their duet of the classic gospel song is simply breathtaking! I love how he remains relatively restrained, yet his raspy trademark voice and rawness can't help but emerge.

It's been 40 years since Aerosmith burst onto the music scene, and despite his battles with addiction, depression, and trauma, Steven remains a bright light in the world of rock 'n roll. Steven, who says he found God in music, has been quoted as saying, "I think I put together the beauty of Mother Nature and music and somewhere in that I felt the presence of God."
