Michael and his girlfriend, Lex, were on a beach in England when they made a shocking discovery. They found an unaccompanied baby crawling up a staircase that led to a busy road where cars whizzed by.
For five very confusing and stressful minutes, Michael says he tried to find the baby's guardian and approached everyone he possibly could.
He says he passed at least 20 people and several groups of beachgoers, but no one recognized the baby. So he just wandered around the sand with the child in his arms while Lex filmed on her phone.
In the TikTok below — which went viral with millions of views in just 24 hours — a woman approaches Michael while she's on the phone. He's still holding the baby in his arms, who he says called the woman "Mom" as she reached out to her.
When the woman took the baby from him, Michael and Lex were completely stunned by her seemingly nonchalant reaction to the entire debacle.
"Is she joking?!" asked Lex, totally baffled.
