During the dog days of summer, my kids beg me to buy them anything frozen. Ice cream, milkshakes, popsicles… You get the idea! Unfortunately, frozen treats aren't always the healthiest, which is why I try to convince the kiddos to give smoothies a try.
My kids won't touch a kale smoothie with a 12-foot pole, but they're totally into my raspberry version — especially when I pair it with blueberry banana trail mix for a healthy and refreshing snack.
Here's what you need to satisfy a sweet tooth without sugar and additives:
- 6 oz organic raspberries
- A handful of kale
- 1 cup vanilla soy milk
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 4 ice cubes
- 1 tsp honey
This is an ideal drink for a hot afternoon in the garden or at the beach. This is sophisticated enough for a grown-up’s palate, too! Kids tend to crave crunch as well, so before they can reach for a cookie I sneak a little healthy trail mix into their bellies. My favorite time-tested recipe is in the video below.
If you're on the go and want to carry both your drink and snack in one simple container, like the one Lifestyle Expert Limor Suss uses in the video below, the perfect solution is Snackeez! What could be better than having your favorite drink and a delicious snack all in one convenient container?! And feel free to mix and match with your favorite drinks and snacks to create your own refreshing combo.
How brilliant is this snack hack?
