Canadian Ice Dancers Perform Incredible Choreography To ‘Proud Mary’

Watching an ice skating routine can be pretty nerve-wracking for those of us watching in the audience, let alone the ones swirling around on the ice. I'll be honest, I spend most of my time watching the performances through my hands when I see their sharp skates fly through the air. Of course, that's probably just an extension of my own clumsiness always expecting the worst. That said, I couldn't take my eyes off the ladies in the video below.

The scarlet-and-sequins-clad athletes are part of Team Canada 2, competing in last year's ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. Like their fellow Canadians at the same event, the talented group left the crowd in awe of their impeccable skill. While the Olympic contenders usually keep things to either a solo or duo attempt at choreography, this team has 16 women strutting their stuff for the judges.

And, if you can tear your eyes away from their amazing moves, you'll see just how much the judges appreciate their hard work as their score grows higher and higher. Their song choice, "Proud Mary" by Ike and Tina Tuner, allows them to start things of "nice and easy," as the lyrics say. Even at that calm pace, they still manage to make my jaw drop with their fluidity and grace.

Then, when the tempo finally kicks things up a notch? That's when they really show the crowd what they can do.
