Parents Watch In Horror As A Vicious Shark Attacks Their Teen Son On Family Vacation

Every summer as people flock to beaches and take exotic trips to paradise, there are sure to be a few scary stories about shark sightings or even shark attacks.

As someone who absolutely loves being in the ocean, the fear of these random attacks is something I think about every time I head to the beach. It could happen anywhere, but New Jersey does have a little bit of history when it comes to shark attacks.

While shark sightings are more luckily more frequent than attacks along the Garden State's coastline, there are still people who have encountered these massive creatures while out and about in the water.

Like these fishermen who had quite the meeting with a great white shark while off the coast of NJ. Great white's are absolutely no joke. Just ask half the characters from Jaws.

Of course, there are stories where shark attacks aren't actually the worst thing that could happen.

Just ask this dad who visited the hospital after a shark rammed into him. If it weren't for this encounter, he wouldn't haven't gotten tests done and discovered a tumor on his kidney.

Luckily, he caught it early and is now cancer-free, but this might not have been the case if it wasn't for the shark.

For 15-year-old Johnny Stoch, his shark attack left him with a great appreciation for the work of the incredible surgeons who saved his leg.

15-year-old suburban Chicago boy Johnny Stoch is pictured here vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. Stoch can be seen holding a snorkel, an activity that would bring him in contact with one of the most dreaded creatures in the sea.

Stoch’s snorkeling trip took a quick turn for the chaotic when a shark approached and tore into his left calf. The quick thinking teen fought back against the shark, landing a kick that had the creature swimming away so that Stoch could back to his boat and seek medical care.

Stoch was missing part of his calf muscle, but doctors were able to reconstruct the leg. Without the amazing work of these surgeons, it’s possible that Stoch might have lost part of his leg as a result of the attack.

But today, not only is Stoch recovering with his leg in tact, but he’s up and walking around. Stoch couldn’t be more grateful to the doctors who operated on him.

The teen is now getting ready to start his sophomore year of high school and says he still likes sharks and isn’t even afraid of them after the attack. One thing is for sure, he’s a braver man than me!
