7th Grader’s Story About School Bully Knocking Her Tooth Out Sparks National Outrage

Charlee Funes, a 13-year-old girl from Illinois, is showing her bloodied face as a reminder of the bullying epidemic that still persists.

A Facebook post detailing the abuse she faced at school quickly went viral and was shared more than 100,000 times in just 24 hours.

This story first appeared on LittleThings in June 2021.

Charlee claims to have been victimized for months by a bully who was allegedly calling her names and pulling her hair.

The situation turned much more physical during gym class when the bully "body slammed" Charlee to the ground.

Charlee lost half her front tooth and suffered bloody scrapes all over her face. She says the bully was very clever and made sure to do the teasing and taunting only when the teachers weren't looking — and the lack of witnesses made Charlee feel too intimidated to speak out sooner.

But now, her family says she's traumatized and scared to return to school.

Watch the video to see why Charlee and her family are unsatisfied with the way in which the school punished the alleged bully.
