Teen Wrestler Says She Isn’t ‘Allowed’ To Wear Uniform In Yearbook Photo Because She’s A Girl

It seems like every day we hear a new story about double standards for women.

From young girls who are forced to change out of "distracting" outfits to teens who are forced to retake their yearbook photos, girls can have it hard out there.

But I've never heard a story like this one.

One teenager, who is on her high school wrestling team, shared a shocking image from her yearbook.

Instead of dressing in her uniform, like the boys on her team, Camri was forced to wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

Keep reading to see the shocking image, and learn why Camri had to wear such a different outfit to her teammates.

Wrestling is a big part of Camri's life, so she was obviously excited to take her picture with the wrestling team for her school yearbook.

But when it came time to take the picture, something inexplicable happened.

Camri wasn't allowed to wear her wrestling singlet like the boys on her team. Instead, she was forced to pose in a sweatshirt and sweatpants, to cover up.

Camri says she had to wear a different outfit because she's a girl.

In wrestling matches, Camri would wear a t-shirt under her singlet, but her uniform was otherwise identical to the boys'.

Camri says it doesn't make any sense to her that she was allowed to wrestle in the same singlet as her male teammates, but was forbidden from being photographed in it.

Camri didn't even realize she was being singled out until later. But when you look at the yearbook photo, it's so clear.

Wrestling is generally a sport associated with men. Camri says that in her personal experience "in a male dominated sport like wrestling there's quite a bit of discrimination against female wrestlers."

Online, people were shocked by the clear double standard Camri had to endure.

I definitely think Camri should have been allowed to pose in her uniform, just like the rest of her team!
