A Texas mom just unleashed a scathing review about Disney's new Halloween film, Hocus Pocus 2.
In a since-deleted post, Jamie Gooch, a mom of three, warned parents about letting evil into their homes by letting their children watch the film. "I'll try to be brief, Please hear me when I tell you the truth that the Witches and Warlocks in the satanic church abuse and sacrifice children in their 'spiritual rituals' to gain more power in the underworld," she began.
The post continued, "So before you hit play on the night of the premier of this movie please ask yourself if not only your mind but your children's minds are strong enough to ward off the hypnotization and bewitching trance that will be coming through the screen to aid in the desensitization of the coming evil in this world. Don't fall victim to the schemes of hell."
The post began circulating quickly on Facebook. Some people thanked her for coming forward with her strong feelings about the film. "Jamie, do you mind if I share this on my page? I believe this is a message of the Lord. I have loved ones that need to read this," said one reply.
But for the most part, Facebook viewers were floored by the post. Commenters accused her of attempting to stir up up the 1980s-era "satanic panic" all over again. Either way, the post went viral, and the mom was interviewed by local news outlets.
Still, the Christian mom held her ground. She even got emotional when talking to KWTX. “A worst case scenario is: You unleash hell on your kids and in your home,” she said. “The whole movie is based on witches harvesting children for blood sacrifices.”
“I love everything to do with house and home, I love creating a safe environment for my family and friends to come into, I believe everything starts here, it all starts at home,” said said. “So beware — and be aware — of what we’re bringing into our homes and our everyday lives, my husband and our children should be experiencing something different here in our home than they’re experiencing out in the world.”
She also said that her family does not do Halloween. “We have not participated in Halloween in about four or five years, it’s just now how we live our lives,” she said. “It grieves me, the thought of exposing our kids to darkness.”
While the post has gotten a ton of negative feedback, the mom says she's just protecting her kids, and she feels good about speaking her mind. “I think it goes further than just a movie, it goes further than Halloween, it’s a year-round thing, we constantly need to be cautious of what we’re consuming, what we’re bringing in and what we’re sending out,” she said.
“I believe whatever comes in our TV screens: There are things attached to that, I’ve seen for myself the things that I’ve watched with my eyes or heard over a TV screen, they’ve become manifested in real life, and then I think ‘oh my gosh, what did I consume?’”
