You should never blindly believe what you watch on TikTok. Always take that extra step of vetting the information given to you. Some news outlets are learning this lesson the hard way after reporting a story shared on the social media platform as fact.
TikTok user Sheena Jackson posted on the platform a hilarious story about two men who thought they were the father of the same young girl, which was revealed when both attempted to pick her up from school. In the skit, Sheena plays a school office clerk and spills all the tea on the drama. Media outlets such as Fox News 28 reported the story as true but had to retract it after the true nature of the posts were revealed.
In the original series of videos, @Sheena-20200 tells her followers, "They both look at each other, and the dad was like, 'Why are you checking my child out? Who are you?'" She then says the other dad asked, “Who are you? What do you mean? I'm her dad.”
Sheena goes on to say that the situation got violent. One of the dads hit the mom. Police and emergency medical personnel were called.
Thankfully, this incident did not actually happen. Sheena posted again on Monday, October 24, 2022, confirming this was just a skit meant for laughs. The story was completely made up.
