You know that old 'golden rule' metaphor that we're taught at a young age? The one about finding a wallet and returning it to its rightful owner with all of its contents undisturbed? One young woman saw this age-old lesson in morality fully realized by one of the nicest guy's in show business, and a lost student ID turned out to be one of the coolest things that could have possibly happened to her.
On Tuesday, October 6, Tom Hanks tweeted a photo of a Fordham University student ID card belonging to a women named Lauren. Atop the photo, he wrote, "Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get to you. Hanx."
The post quickly went viral, with everyone clearly in awe that the celebrity would break from his busy schedule in order to return such an arbitrary item. Lauren spoke with Now This below and says she's yet to get it back, but that she's thankful for the kind gesture from the Forrest Gump star.
"It was ironic," she tells Now This, joking, "I was thinking about it, and I was like, 'I was out for a run, Forrest.' "
Well this is certainly a story we can get behind.
