Traditional Austrian Folk Dancers Put A Silly Spin On Their Choreography

Every culture has a set of unique traditions that perfectly captures the heart of the community's identity. It can be a special holiday, song, or, as seen below, dance.

I love learning about the different routines performed around the globe. In China, you might stumble upon a dazzling fan dance, or you can observe our nation's roots at one of the many Native American powwows held across the country. Wherever you happen to be, chances are, you can find an example of their toe-tapping tradition waiting around at least one corner.

For this group of men in the Pramtal region of Austria, their rhythmic custom takes on a bit of a silly nature. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not poking fun of this amazing display. In fact, it's been a while since I've seen choreography quite as entertaining as these 10 fellas! The performance is known as a "Schuhplattler" and has been a part of several German-speaking cultures dating all the way back to 3000 BC.

Dressed in the mandatory outfit of lederhosen and dirndls, the crowd watches as the men make their way to the stage and begin forming a circle. This is followed by a series of stomping and clapping along to the music as their feet fly around, too. But it's what they do about two minutes in that really made this tickle my funny bone!

Be sure to watch all the way through to see that and another incredible surprise a couple minutes after that.

And don't forget to SHARE their wonderful performance with your friends!
