Okay, people. I think it’s time we all take a moment, get on our knees, and bow down to the almighty material that is wood.

Why?

Because people are making some truly remarkable things out of maple, mahogany, and pine. I’m talking vases, knife boards, glowing tables, even houses. Wood houses that look like logs! Wood that looks like wood! That’s the ultimate in woodiness. Don’t believe me? Take it up with a woodchuck who would eat wood if wood wouldn’t destroy its digestive system. Yeah, that’s right, woodchucks don’t actually eat wood — they eat snails, grasshoppers, and grubs. Personally, I’d rather eat oak. Or I’ll take what’s behind door number two, Monty.

Speaking of doors, reddit user TheScaleBanana noticed a discarded door their sister was getting rid of while renovating her house. Sis saw the old door as junk, but TheScaleBanana saw a diamond in the rough and turned this piece of trash into something so gorgeous, it boggled my mind.

It all started with the idea of folding wood…

This is the door that TheScaleBanana would soon fold into origami-like art.

Lines were drawn to figure out where to put the folds, then the wood was cut with a table saw.

He then glued and fastened the wood together.

Unused parts of the door were used for measuring and eventually…

…Legs for a table.

The wood received a fresh coat of paint, and glass was then placed upon this piece of abstract art.

The final product was displayed in a living room.

Crazy what a little creativity can do!
