Recently, an elderly woman went out for coffee and got lost four miles from home. She was spotted riding her scooter near the U.S.-Canada border, and drivers were getting worried. When Washington state Trooper Dave Hintz reached her, she was heading in the wrong direction on the busy road. Hintz has been with the state patrol for 24 years, but he says what happened next was a first. Luckily, his car’s dash cam caught it all on camera.
In the video below, Trooper Hintz pulls up behind the woman, asks her to move off the road, and says, "We’re getting a ton of calls about you; everybody’s worried about you because you’ve been on and off the road." Then, Hintz does something incredible. Instead of treating her like she's inept or unfit to drive her scooter, he escorts her all the way home, letting her drive as fast she could go — 6 miles an hour. It was no easy feat; Hintz had to get out of his car at one point to push the scooter out of some undergrowth and back up onto the road, before continuing behind her as her special escort.
After traveling for more than an hour, they safely made it back to her home.
“I just treated her the way that I would’ve wanted somebody to treat my mom,” the Trooper said.
Bravo to this heroic man and his act of kindness for a complete stranger. Watch the heartwarming moment below, and please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook!
