If you're thinking about buying a car, you're probably (and hopefully) doing a good bit of research to find out which vehicle is just right for you. In the end, it can be a difficult choice — there are lots of high-quality, cool-looking cars for sale these days. But when you narrow down your options to just a few vehicles, it can be tempting to play it safe and choose the same one that everyone else has been buying lately. Yet when it comes to getting a new car, sometimes going against the flow is the best decision you could make.
Even though we all would like to be one of these Hollywood stars who are so rich they can afford some of the most expensive cars in the world, the sad reality is that most of us have to spend out hard-earned cash a bit more wisely. That doesn't mean you have to make sacrifices in the quality department, though. In fact, when you compare many expensive vehicles to cars from other automakers, you might find that you're paying thousands of dollars more just for the name attached to the vehicle! Just like these cheap cars that look way more expensive than they actually are, sometimes the fanciest option isn't the best one.
If you're thinking about getting a new car in the future, take a look at these vehicles that aren't super popular, but really should be. They might not be what everyone is driving around these days, but since they work and look great, we don't know why!

1. Ford Flex

Perhaps its boxy, yet modern design is to blame, or perhaps it's the fault of poor advertising, but either way, the Flex hasn't sold as well as you'd expect for a Ford SUV. It's a shame, too. Because the Flex is a simple, spacious vehicle that can easily be a cooler-looking replacement for a minivan.
2. Porsche Cayman

The Cayman is just as good as (if not better than) the famous 911, but it hasn't even come close to achieving the popularity of its predecessor. It's a pity, too, because this flashy little car handles like a dream and will turn heads as you drive by.
3. Cadillac CTS

Despite winning numerous awards, including the Motor Trend Car of the Year award, the CTS hasn't sold as well as you'd expect. It outperforms similar vehicles from BMW in many ways, but it seems that its target audience prefers BMW when it comes to luxury mid-size sedans.
4. Subaru BRZ

You might not expect a small sports car to come from Subaru, but they did a great job building a sleek little car that handles well and carries all the quality you'd expect from the company. Perhaps it has something to do with the target audience wanting a sports car from a company known for producing sports cars rather than practical, family-friendly vehicles, but the sales for the BRZ have been surprisingly low.
5. BMW 3 Series Touring

This sports wagon is actually quite popular in Europe, but sales in the States have been disappointing. Being as the vehicle is practical, stylish, and well-built, the only reason for its lack of popularity in the U.S. seems to be that Americans just aren't crazy about wagons anymore.
6. Jaguar XJ

It's good enough for the royal family and Prime Minister of England, but for some reason, the Jaguar XJ isn't good enough for many American drivers. It performs better and is cheaper than many other cars in its class, but still gets looked over when people shop for luxury cars.
7. Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon

Another quality car that fell victim to the anti-wagon bandwagon, the E-Class is a sporty and spacious vehicle that offers all the benefits of an SUV in a smaller package. It even looks awesome, but buyers have been steering away from it in the United States.
8. Mazda 6

Mazda sedans are incredible vehicles that are available for a lower price than the competition. They offer great performance and a stylish appearance, but apparently that isn't enough to win over buyers.
9. Cadillac ATS

This car has been compared to BMW cars of the same class, but it seems a lot of people still prefer the other company to Cadillac. Despite Cadillac's poor reputation in the past, this car is definitely worth the money.
10. Mazda 5

Being as this car offers everything you could want from a minivan without all the stuff you don't want from a minivan, it's hard to see why its sale numbers are so low. The Mazda 5 looks great, handles like a dream, and is an overall outstanding car for anyone who has a lot of passengers to transport.
