The relatives and loved ones of several of the victims of the Charleston, SC massacre got the chance to speak to the racist terrorist who took so many lives last Wednesday.
While most of us would be filled with uncontrollable rage and hate for the murderer, an amazing number of family members reached out with soft hearts for the 21-year-old.
The first relative to speak, Nadine Collier, was the daughter of 70-year-old Ethel Lance. At the initial hearing, she approached the microphone and tearfully spoke to her mother's killer:
"I forgive you. You took something very precious away from me. I will never talk to her ever again. I will never be able to hold her again. But I forgive you, and have mercy on your soul. You hurt me, you hurt a lot of people. But God forgive you, and I forgive you."
The granddaughter of victim Daniel Simmons proudly told the handcuffed killer, "Although my grandfather and the other victims died at the hands of hate, this is proof, everyone's plea for your soul is proof, that they lived and loved and their legacies will live and love. So hate won't win."
These families all reached out in forgiveness and love. In spite of the terrible acts of that horrible, racist killer, these families all joined together and begged for that killer to seek penance. In such turbulent times, these families found the one thing to calm the storm and comfort their broken hearts.
Will you ever be able to forgive such a horrible murderer? Let us know in the comments below.
