A high school senior's reaction to finding out he got accepted into Harvard University has gained a lot of attention on the internet for the wholesome moment. LaShonda NeSmith-Jackson shared a video of her son, Dre'Shon Jackson, on her Facebook page.
The video shows the moment that the 17-year-old student from Florence, South Carolina, learns that he got accepted into the Ivy League school. "I’ve heard the saying if nobody laugh at your dreams, you’re not dreaming big enough. Well Dre’Shon had a dream of getting into Harvard since he was in 7th grade," his mom stated in the post. "We knew it was a long shot, but you miss every shot you don’t take right?"
"So we decided to take that shot and apply to Harvard, knowing that Harvard only accepts 7% of the applicants," the post continued. "Last year Harvard had 9533 students from round the world apply and they only accepted a little over 700 students. This year they had 7922 applicants from all over the WORLD and only accepted 622 students."
"The current Wilson IB, SGA President, National Beta Club President, Founder of the Wilson U Newspaper Club, and Chick fil A Shift Leader was one of the 622 students accepted into Harvard Class of 2028! His hard work, dedication, commitment, resilience, drive and his initiative has paid off!" she continued of her son. She then went on to thank their village and encourage others to never give up on their dreams.

"I didn't know what was gonna happen," Dre'Shon told Good Morning America. "I wasn't sure if I was gonna get in, deferred, rejected and I was just like, my future pretty much [hangs] on this one letter. I clicked the button and all I could see was confetti and the word congratulations. And I didn't care about anything else on the screen, I was just like, 'I got in!'"
