When Dee Wise Heinz saw a fundraising letter from the PTA at her daughter's school she was surprised by how unconventional it was. The "Alternative Fundraiser" notice didn't ask parents to make treats for a bake sale or invite them to an evening event. Instead, it asked parents to help the school with some special donations.
"This fundraiser is in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door, collecting money, and delivering goods. Please help us avoid that by supporting our PTA with your donations, and helping us achieve our goals to support our students and faculty," the note from the local Texas middle school read.
Yet, what makes this notice a viral sensation is the explanations it included along with the recommended amounts parents were asked to donate.
For example, a $15 donation meant, "I do not want to bake, so here is the money I would have spent on those cupcakes." A $100 donation was for the parents who thought, "I really wouldn't have helped anyway, so here is $100 to forget my name."
The school wasn't criticizing parents as was the case in a Colorado school over packed lunches, but more so sympathizing with them.
In turn, the mother of three found the notice hilarious and shared it on her Facebook page. It quickly went viral with over 200,000 shares and comments from other parents who loved how witty the school was.
"I used to DREAM of this from my son's schools," one mom joked. "You're a lucky mom!"

Dee Wise Heinz, a mother of three, saw a fundraising note that her daughter brought home from school. She expected to see a typical note asking parents to help out with a bake sale or attend a fundraising event.

But, the local Texas school sent this hilarious and candid fundraising flyer instead. The mom decided to share it on Facebook.

"I love that our school PTA has a great sense of humor. This form came home with our 7th grader yesterday," the mom wrote as the caption.
Her post quickly went viral with over 200,000 shares along with tons of comments from parents who found the note just as hilarious.

Some parents even wished their child's school would do the same thing!

It seems parents everywhere can attest to the time-consuming nature of school fundraisers. This Texas school's approach is refreshing and easier for busy parents. Do you agree?
