Taelor Beeck was working as a waitress at Zombie Burger in Des Moines, ID. The server isn't hard to miss with her bright pink hair, facial piercing, and tattoos. For Taelor, her unconventional style is a way for her to express herself as an artist. Her aesthetic certainly fits in at Zombie Burger, a restaurant that playfully describes itself as "undead urban dining."
Taelor was working an ordinary shift when she went to collect the receipt after her customer finished eating and left. When she looked at the tip line, however, she was shocked.
The customer's bill came to $17.26, but instead of leaving a tip, he or she left a cruel comment that hurt her feelings.
Not only that, but like most food service professionals, Taelor needs her tips to pay her bills.
"I felt attacked, I almost felt like I was back in middle school all over again, like being bullied," she said. "I felt like a burning anger inside of me."
Taelor's story went viral. She received an outpouring of support on social media, and Zombie Burger's parent company was totally supportive of her, too. Orchestrate Hospitality stood by her side, celebrating her individual style.
"I may look like a weirdo but I'm actually a very nice, decent person."
