"The one that got away" is a saying that many of us know, and some have even experienced firsthand.
It doesn't even have to refer to a person — it can refer to a treasured item or something we've always wanted. Knowing that someone or something was nearly yours just to have it slip away can come back to haunt us over and over again. For example, the dad in the video below had wanted a Chevrolet Corvette his entire life.
But in true "the one that got away" fashion, getting the car of his dreams just never came to fruition.
According to his police officer son, Officer Baker, Dad came very close to one recently.
He had found the perfect one, a Corvette model from 2004, at a nearby dealership, but sadly, the dealer did not accept Dad's best offer.
Officer Baker recalled how upset his dad was on the ride home from the dealership.
So he decided to do something about it.
In the video below, shot in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Officer Baker recorded the journey to surprise his dad.
First, he, with help from his mom, haggled and negotiated with the dealer and finally got the vehicle down to a price they could work with.
Then Officer Baker picked up the car while his mom had his dad take her to Walmart, where the surprise would take place.
