Local news seems to be the gift that's always giving. No matter what the situation, there's usually a local news broadcast to be found that features some silly mixup or gaffe of some kind. It's one of the best reasons to watch because the personalities on the local news channels are often what keeps the viewers sticking around.
Recently there was a hilarious story of a local news traffic reporter from Maryland named Traffic Jam Jimmy who was caught ordering food at a McDonald's drive-thru when the news desk threw the live broadcast his way. Now we have another example of Reporter Fail coming out of a local news station, and it's pretty darned hilarious itself.
There must be something in the water over in Maryland because this reporter gaffe is also from the state. A journalist for WUSA, a CBS News affiliate in Laurel, Maryland, is supposed to do his live report, but when the news desk tosses the broadcast his way, you can see that he's actually locked himself out oh his car!
From the camera mounted in his car, we can see Scott Broom through his car window waving to his friends back at the news desk.
"Help," he says with a laugh. "Oh, this is so bad. I got out of the car to get the ice off the windshield wipers. The keys are sitting in the ignition right there."
Ha! Luckily for Scott, the situation isn't too dire. He's already called the help desk at the new station, who is on the way with spare keys to open the car, but just as they're discussing the situation, a kind police officer steps in to save the day.
With his Slim Jim in hand, the police officer is able to unlock the car door and let Scott Broom get back to his job. A happy ending to a rather funny situation.
