Veteran's Day is an important holiday – it can be one of the only days that veterans from all different age brackets feel noticed for their service (veterans like Tim Poe, who, despite being disabled, is one of the most amazing singers you've ever heard). Sometimes, people come back from war and have a hard time adjusting, or feel like no one appreciates what they sacrificed due to hardships finding jobs. Veteran's day is one way we can give back to the men and woman who put it all on the line to keep us safe.
But did you know it's called Remembrance Day throughout most of the world? Or what the true significance of the date, November 11th, actually is? (Supposedly, on the 11th day of the 11th month, at the 11th hour, a truce was called that ended World War I.)
Sometimes, it's nice to know the real history of our holidays, so we can pass that information down to people who may not be so knowledgeable. And when it comes to holidays like Veteran's day, sharing the history is all that more important!
