The pooch in the video below may be 106 lbs, but he’s friendlier than you’d ever imagine. Whenever Winston the Great Pyrenees visits the seniors living at C.C. Young in Dallas, TX, he puts a smile on all their faces with his lovable and calm nature.
Originally from Colorado, Winston was returned to his breeder after his owner died. Eventually, Texas resident Clifford Spohr took him in. Now, he brings the certified therapy dog to visit the seniors suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's once a month.
“I feel like I’m doing something good,” Spohr said.
Therapy dogs are proven to make a difference by bringing comfort to a person in need. For example, it's incredible to see the way a 6-year-old with a severe head injury responded when a therapy dog named Colonel came to visit him. And who could forget about the funeral home dog that momentarily alleviates families’ pain? Winston has the same affect on these senior citizens.
As seen in the video below, the seniors enjoy every minute of it and are eager to pet the beautiful dog. (Just wait until you see the woman at the :37 mark!)
“I think we are very fortunate to have gotten to see him. It was quite exciting,” said 96-year-old Margaret Spearman.
