A woman who uses social media to share her mom's experience with Alzheimer’s posted a video in which she describes her mom to her mom. Though the video is a tearjerker, many thought the way that the woman interacted with her mom who has Alzheimer's was beautiful. "Do you want me to tell you about my mom?" the woman said at the start of the video, with the camera facing her mom. Her mom responded with, "Well, you said something about her."
On Instagram, someone asked the woman who her mom thinks she is, if not her daughter. "The girl who takes her places. That’s what she’ll say," the woman, whose social media handle is @phyllisann922, responded.
In the video, which was shared on TikTok and Instagram, the woman went on to describe her mom to her mom. "She loved to dance," she told her mom.
"Any time there was a party, she was the first one on the dance floor," she continued. She added that she was a "scary lady." When her mom asked, "Scary?" she clarified with, "Oh, she was scared of everything."
That detail in particular sounded very familiar to her mom, Phyllis. "She sounds like me," her mom said, not knowing that her daughter truly was talking about her.
"It does sound like you," her daughter replied. The daughter shared more details with her mom, and her mom said, "I betcha she was pretty."
In another video, Phyllis' daughter explained that Phyllis began to show signs of cognitive decline in 2017 at age 67. In 2019, at age 69, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
