Woman Didn’t Know She Was Dating ‘The Shopping Cart Killer’ In 2020 But Did See Red Flags

One woman noticed some red flags when dating a man she met on a dating app, but she had no idea that he was actually a suspected serial killer. A man that Monica White, 56, dated in 2020 is now referred to as the "Shopping Cart Killer."

Anthony Robinson is the suspected killer of multiple women, but when White first started talking to him, he seemed "normal," she told People. In 2022, White told The Washington Post that the man complimented her frequently, and also began calling her on a daily basis.

When White met up with the man for the first time, they enjoyed food together, got to know each other better and watched some movies, she previously told The Washington Post. However, she noticed some "red flags" the first time they met, she told People.

In spite of the red flags, she gave him a chance — but once they were physically intimate with each other, he would choke her and also wanted to tie her up, which she told him she was not comfortable with.

The relationship then progressed far too quickly, which was alarming for White. The first time they met, Robinson allegedly told White that he wanted to move to her place. She said it was way too soon for that, but he visited her again to celebrate her birthday a month later.

White was also shocked to find out that Robinson bought a one-way bus ticket to get to her area, and claimed that he didn't have the money to leave, she told The Washington Post.

The Washington Post reported that the alleged serial killer stayed with White for some time (he arrived early, before her actual birthday), but she eventually kicked him out because of a fight. She told People that she gave Robinson money to help him get back home.

White explained to The Washington Post that although there were red flags and issues, she never heard the alleged serial killer talk about harming women. She did, however, know that he was previously engaged, and the woman whom he was engaged to had died at some point.

The alleged serial killer's late fiancée, Skye Allen, died in 2018. Her cause of death was listed as “fatal cardiac arrhythmia,” but in 2022, The Washington Post reported that the death was being investigated because of the allegations against Anthony Robinson.

White thought the alleged serial killer left her area after their fight, but she found out he was actually staying in a motel in the area. He asked her to meet him at the motel, and even offered her money to do so, she told People, but she didn't go. She did, however, see him outside one time and noticed that "he looked like a totally different man. Something snapped in him."

Months later, a family member shared a shocking article with her: an article about the man she had dated being a suspected serial killer. In 2022, she told The Washington Post that she was depressed and couldn't date anymore after learning that the man she had gone out with was accused of killing multiple women.

“I had actually allowed this man into my home, allowed him to stay overnight in my home," she told People. "Then to find out later on, you started killing people?”
