Long-distance relationships can be hard, and a recent story shared on TikTok makes them seem pretty scary. In a video, Emma Noyes detailed her friend's experience dating a professional hockey player who was offered the opportunity to play hockey in Russia. His girlfriend was supportive, and at first, their relationship was still going well with regular communication and discussions about marriage even while he was in Russia.
They were together for eight years. Emma said that the hockey player told his girlfriend that he was excited to see her when he got home from Russia, but then, he suddenly disappeared.
The hockey player boyfriend didn't respond to any messages from his girlfriend, so she was worried that something happened to him and reached out to his family. His family said that he was on vacation. The girlfriend then texted her boyfriend to ask what was going on and after some time, he replied saying, "I'm sorry I'm not home yet. I will be home soon."
He admitted it was not a good response and said he would text her a better one later, but she never heard from him again after being with him for eight years.
Though she never heard from him again, she saw photos that revealed that he visited his home country. She tried to reach out in multiple ways, at least wanting closure, but heard nothing from him. After going back to Russia, he posted a photo with another woman, so her friends began to "investigate."
The friends found out that the hockey player had been dating the other woman for quite some time, even during the period of time when he was telling his girlfriend that they would get married someday.

He later posted a photo with the other woman in which she was wearing a ring. "This is a true story. It did not happen to me. It happened to my best friend of 20 years," Emma said in the original video.
The video went viral and many people expressed support for the woman's friend. However, many also started to speculate about which professional hockey player did this, which led to the woman deleting the original video.
She posted a new video explaining her decision to delete it, saying that it reached who she wanted it to reach but also affected innocent hockey players. "Men who are faithful should not be falsely accused of being unfaithful," she wrote. "It's not fair, and it's the last thing I want my page to do."
