I think all animal lovers would agree that the bond they share with their pet is special and unique. If you're a pet owner, you can appreciate that your dog or cat has unconditional love for you, but would you marry your pet? Would you marry two of your pets?
Barbarella Buchner, 48, of the United Kingdom did just that when she married her two cats, Spider and Lugosi, in 2004. They've now been married for over 10 years. When her partner of seven years left her, she was completely devastated. He was the most important thing in her life while they were together.
As she tells the Daily Mail, "It was so painful breaking up with him. I cried for weeks after we split up, but the cats really helped me through the process. I would cry into Lugosi's and Spider's fur."
The cats helped mend her broken heart with their love and companionship. She found a website called MarryYourPet.com, which offers marriage certificates to people and their pets for a nominal fee. She made it official in June of 2004, and they've been wed ever since.
Your first instinct is probably, "What a crazy cat lady." Well, that's certainly not going to offend Barbarella. Her personal website, dedicated to sharing the story of her life with her cats, is called "The Mad Cat Lady."

Barbarella is the first one to admit that this marriage is not like a marriage between humans. She describes them as companions more than partners. It's a purely spiritual relationship.

She's had her fair share of serious relationships with men in her life, but she says she's never been happier.

She's well aware of what people think about her and what they say behind her back, but she doesn't care.

She tells the Daily Mail, "I have never been one to care about what people say or think anyway, especially when it has anything to [do with] my cats and the unusual relationship I have with them."
Barbarella hated having to clean up after her ex-boyfriends and when they would make her wait on them. With her cats, she doesn't mind as much, because she accepts that they're animals.

She stresses that nothing untoward is going on. It just so happens that this relationship with her cats has lasted 14 years, making it her longest relationship yet.

She says, "I have loved and lived with a couple of partners before, but I realized that my love for my fur babies is so much deeper than anything I have felt for a human."

Barbarella has been an animal lover since she was a little girl. Cats have always been a particular favorite of hers, but she never liked having to share the animals with the rest of her family. She never felt like the cats were truly "hers."

"I'm not alone, I have my cats now. I have no regrets and I don't care what people say."
