An 81-year-old woman was thankfully rescued from the woods in Michigan after being stranded for over 20 hours — and it's all thanks to one police dog. Michigan State Police revealed on July 3, 2024, that troopers had responded to a house in Ogemaw County’s Richland Township, after a concerned family member said they hadn't seen the woman since the night before.
Police found the missing woman's motorized chair in the garage, along with her coat, purse, and cellphone.

A canine team was called in to aid in the search. According to MSP's X post, its canine team, including Trooper Adam Whited and his K9 partner Loki, were called to help in the search.
"Upon arrival, Loki began tracking through the woods behind the residence and located a pair of gloves and a walking cane leading down into a steep ravine," the statement reads.
A storm rolled in shortly after the woman was found.
"A short distance later, Loki located the elderly woman at the base of the ravine unable to move," it continued. "Troopers were assisted by Ogemaw County EMS and Richland Twp Fire Rescue with carrying her out of the woods as a heavy rainstorm rolled in. After speaking with the woman, it was determined she had been lost in the woods for over 20 hours before being located."
